Welcome Back. It is good to be working with all of you again. I am getting the online form of the syllabus finished so that everyone can know what is going on. Part of the 20% participation grade is going to require you to make some responses to this blog: comments, questions, whatever. I can't teach you about new comm technologies if you are not taking part in some form.
I will be using this space to add any additional comments on the class content and anything that I would like you to know about the subject matter and that I can say in public.
Last night spoke for itself and I hope that you now have a good sense of some of the technological breakthroughs across human history. These innovations came out of an individual's need, an organization's need, society's need or just individual genius. They were based on what preceded and effected what followed them. They also had impact on other human creative endeavors even when that impact was unforeseen. And it does seem that the rate of innovation has exploded in the past 30 years and there is very little chance of it slowing down. Even the smartest people don't know what the next thing will be and we need to be ready with fundamental knowledge that will enable us to put that thing to good use!
We will proceed with some of that fundamental knowledge on Wednesday.
